It was a very rainy day. So instead of exploring the outdoors at my teaching destination I thought I’d stop in at one of my favorite art centers: The Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences in Rocky Mt. NC.
I love the building as much as I love the exhibits. There was a nationally juried exhibit up full of wonderful art in many different media but my favorite exhibit was an extensive collection of vintage cameras. (no photographs allowed – or I would show you.)
So instead I’ll show you the gorgeous building – which is in itself a work of art. It was a former tobacco company headquarters (I think) and has been renovated in the most beautiful way. Some of the outside spaces have been enclosed, some of the inside spaces opened up. I studied architecture in college and one of my great interests was urban reuse and renewal.
