Travels: from Wellington, through Palmerston North, and a few little stops in between

March 10, 2019

Much of the next two days were a whirlwind of travel. Our delightful hostess picked us up in Otaki and drove us north, stopping at a licorice factory on the way. This is not what crossed my mind when I thought “licorice.”

I certainly ate too much. We also stopped at several delightful quilt shops, one named Fox Cottage. There is a hilarious story about when they first put up their sign. It didn’t say “quilt shop” yet and men would wander in and stand around for a few minutes looking confused. Hmmmm.

Either before or after Palmerston North we stopped for a quick break in a little town with a big sense of Humor.

Many a garage door and building had a Bull themed mural.

Somewhere in there we also stopped at a funny little cafe/ camp ground.

It was shearing season so we saw plenty of skinny sheep as we drove by pasture after pasture. Then this. At first glance I thought…. “What is up with those long necked sheep!?” I think I must have been a bit tired.
