New Work: Shibori with Red Circles

November 2, 2020

It’s been a lovely whirlwind of finishing up work that was mostly done. This collection feels quiet to me. Colors of earth and sky in winter. And red circles.

The cloth all comes from Jefferson Street Studios, dyed by shibori artist Helene Davis.

I’ve included circles in my work since the beginning of my career as an artist. On a very basic level the simple shape and form feels complete to me. Orderly. Beautiful. Encompassing. In recent years my subconscious affinity for the circle has developed a deeper meaning and I’ve used them intentionally. They are whole. They never end. They represent  unity and eternity to my soul. Even when they are imperfect, even when they are broken, our mind completes them.
