“Well done is better than well said.”
Benjamin Franklin
I know what I want to do for you. But I also know that if I don’t MAKE it happen, I won’t be making any art (again) this year. So I’m thinking of exciting ways to make my art AND build our community. Can I help you become a better artist while helping myself to become a better artist at the same time? I think I can. And it’s kinda exciting to me.
I’m going to take the plunge. I’m going to do it. I’ve got that feeling in the pit of my stomach that is full of the nervous energy of starting something new. Yes, I absolutely have to fight imposter syndrome whenever I try something big like this. I seriously have nightmares about nobody showing up. That feeling is usually my clue that I’m on the right track though. I have to be willing to fail in order to have a chance to succeed.
I was thinking about using a platform I already own, but really, it just doesn’t do what I want it to. I’m going to get a second subscription to a software platform that is built around community, around building social networks. It’s going to be expensive, but I think it will be work it for all of us. I’m thinking of it as an investment in my own art making as well as yours.

“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.”
Brené Brown
I’m going to make my own art right alongside you. The membership will include easy “look for inspiration” prompts, short lessons about an element of art, deep lessons about the elements and principles, and most exciting – work sessions. I’ll work, you’ll work, we will create together and it will hold me accountable for making time for art!
Stay tuned!

March 31, 2023 at 12:24 pmMake lots of bad art. Stop buying materials too precious to waste. Try sampling on materials you have no intention of keeping. Tula Pink’s, don’t be afraid of bad ideas.
Artists teach us a lot about moving.
As for being in over your head, pattern recognition and resolve kicks in, I know how to swim this through.

November 23, 2022 at 6:51 amWork sessions!!! I don’t need any more unfinished projects from classes. I need a reason to make MY art. I’m looking forward to what you develop here. I have been struggling with: Do I finish those projects that are sometime else’s plan (where I learn something each time but can’t show them as mine) to keep them out of the UFO pile or do I finish that project that is mine and can be shown as mine. Of course, writing it here makes it easier to see. Now to clear the space and make my art.
