I’m a mountain girl. I grew up at the foot of the Rockies and spent my childhood summers practically living in the back country of the High Uinta mountains. There is nothing that lifts my heart more than climbing up to a view where you can look over the beauty in front of you. The view could be a crystal clear glacier water mountain lake or a distant horizon.
Being able to see things from above fills my soul.
Getting to that high vantage point isn’t always easy. I’ve climbed up to some of beautiful soft views the in the Appalachians and am awed by their stately age. When I was younger, I scrambled long difficult climbs to clifftops in the Rocky Mountains.

our minds embrace the sea that we have crossed.”

Part of the joy of hiking is taking long and peaceful rest stops. Finding a good view looking back. Seeing the distance you’ve come is rewarding, energizing.
Creating art sometimes feels like hiking. Every new piece is a different path, even if you are climbing the same mountain. Sometimes there are lovely paths to follow. Sometimes there are seemingly insurmountable obstacles requiring you to turn around and try a different route. And every once in a while you get to ride the Gondola. |
This month on my blog I’ll be spending time looking back over the past year. I invite you to spend time reflecting with me. Let’s see how far we’ve come and celebrate together. |
