“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.”
Albert Einstein
Did you try out the ‘find out your core values’ exercise? (It’s here if you didn’t get the chance.) I’m finding that no matter if my time is equally divided between home, work, self, etc… if what I am doing is aligned with my core values I’m content. Often still tired and overwhelmed, but content.

My values?
Some of the value groupings that keep rising to the top for me are Community, Leadership, Growth, Making a Difference, Diversity, Lifting Others, Creativity, and most especially Love. Lots of love.
I want to …
Make a Difference by Lifting my Community and helping them to Grow.
I’ve spent the past two years in the deep end of learning something new (business-wise) and creating the Academy for Virtual Teaching. I adore my colleagues and creating a membership and professional development course where they can develop and hone their virtual teaching skills has been fulfilling. I will continue to focus on that pretty heavily because I want it to settle in, grow, and eventually live on without me.
This next year I want to ALSO focus on YOU!

People have been asking me about the In-Depth design courses I teach, The Artist’s Toolbox. It’s an intensive program where we dive deep into the Elements and Principles of art. I usually spend a great deal of time interacting with and working with my class members.
I’m having ideas for a way that I can manage both the Academy and, you, my fellow artists. I’m seriously toying with the idea of turning that course into more of a membership community. A place where we can choose to dabble or dive deep in finding our vision and more clearly communicating in our own unique visual voice.

Or just reply here and tell me. If you joined a membership that helped you become a better artist, what would that membership look like?

November 20, 2022 at 5:10 pmI like the idea of a membership community. Good luck with whatever this ends up looking like.
