The First Step to the North Star

February 3, 2023

I’m pretty sure I’ve written about it before, but one of my favorite metaphors is reaching for the North star. We fully understand it is beyond reach, but following it will take us up a mountain. It’s as simple as that. If you know your highest goal, the direction you need to follow, and you keep it in mind at all times? You’ll go somewhere!

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” – Peter Drucker

I know my North Star. The reason. The big WHY behind what I’m dreaming.

I want to create a place where practiced and emerging quilt artists can learn the visual language and gain confidence in their skills so they can find their unique artists voice and share their vision.

I’m developing a membership community. I really hope to open it in May or June. It will be paid because I believe in supporting artists and I think you all will support me. I really do. I’ve got a lot to share and I want to share it with more people than can reach me through my smaller classes.

Some of my ideas in process:

  • Element/Principle of the month, concentrate on deeply learning one part of the visual language
  • Weekly prompts, let’s talk about and discuss the elements and share what we are learning
  • Photo hunts, share your images of the Element/Principle
  • Artist interviews, live interviews with other artists as we chat about their process
  • Work-Alongs, hop on zoom and just work in the company of your fellow artists
  • Start Your Art warm-up prompts

I’ve got lots more in my head. I’d love to hear what else you’d like to see there. If you want to hear more thoughts and progress, you can sign up for my Newsletter – that’s where all the important information comes out.
